I find synthetic insulation better for regulating temp than down. For light outdoors activities, it's good for a wide range of temps - for me, around 25F-45F, rain, snow, whatever. I like it for commuting or running around town, I appreciate how it's easier to take on/off indoors or regulate temp with the dual zipper. In urban environments, it is low-key enough to wear without looking like you just went skiing or climbing, especially if you get it in a dark color way.
